ESET NOD32 continues to Secure Network for Banaras Hindu University (BHU)

Delhi,22 June 2009: The Banaras Hindu University (BHU), well known centre for education and research in North India, continues to secure its network with ESET NOD32 antivirus solution. Established in 1916 Banaras Hindu University (BHU) is one of the most prestigious universities in India with student’s enrollment over 20,000. Unlike many Indian universities, BHUs IT infrastructure is centralized and managed by IT administration department. The IT administration at BHU had very less control over the students desktop yet they have to give full access to the university network. Hence it was great risk as a single infested machine could disrupt or even bring down the network, hampering the flow of information throughout the university. The network was also prone to a vast number of message-borne threats, ranging from viruses and worms to Trojans and phishing.

To secure the entire network from the ever growing cyber threats, BHU decided to deploy ESET NOD32 version 2.7 on approximately 7000 terminals last year. This year BHU needed to renew their 7000 licenses. They considered other antivirus solutions available in the market. Before installation of ESET NOD32 version 4, training was provided to the system admin dept., staff and faculty so that they get clear idea what’s new in product. ESS technical support team, IT Administration dept. and Prudente solution engineers were involved in entire training and installation process.
